Physical and health wellness is one of the perks of going to the gym. Despite the stressful day to day activities of most Nigerians, it is important to find time out of your busy schedule for physical activities that will put your body in good shape and also ensure that your body is in a healthy condition. In view of this, I have highlighted 10 things you need to know before registering your membership at a gym in Nigeria.

  1. Prepare to wash everyday

One thing you cannot take away is having to wash everyday, you wouldn’t want to store your used gym wears because perspiration smells after a while and it’s better to have your clothes crisp and dry.

If you live in a spacious flat, you may not need to wash every day; just make sure they’re placed in an aerated area to eliminate odors.

2. Get a mini sized towel

It is expected that you will sweat when working out, and a few drops of sweat may fall onto the machines. A towel will be useful for wiping your face and sweat glistening from the machine you just used, thereby making it fit for the next user.
As I previously stated, the gym is a meeting ground for a diversity of individuals, some of whom are likely to have physical ailments. In view of this, be safety conscious. Touch individuals with caution, especially if they’re so sweaty.

3. You will need a bottle of water

While you can buy water at the gym, it is more cost effective to get a medium-sized water bottle. There are some programs that cause you to lose your energy. It’s a physical workout, and water is an important aspect of the regimen. This is due to the fact that water hydrates you and provides you with a sense of well-being and nourishment. You lose water due to perspiration and it is essential to continue to take in more water

4. Get comfortable sneakers

This is one of the most important items you’d need for a gym because a good athletic shoe is essential for any workout that includes running, walking, sports, or gym equipment. Inappropriate footwear might cause injury, which can hinder your fitness or weight loss goals. Investing in a good shoe can help you avoid foot and ankle injuries while also making your training more enjoyable and comfortable.

5. Buy smart and comfortable gym wear

There’ll be aerobics and diverse programs and you wouldn’t want to feel uncomfortable with your clothing. A good and comfortable gym wear helps boost your confidence, improve performance, prevent injuries and gives you a soothing experience at the gym. For the ladies, get comfortable gym bras.

6. You’ll need headphones

The gym is usually a loud place, if you’re not comfortable with a certain genre of music that might probably be played at the gym, then you should get your headphones or noise cancelling headphones

7. Get an antiperspirant

You wouldn’t want to be the smelly one at the gym. Our bodies produce and release moisture in the form of sweat to cool us down. Armpits alone have over 25,000 pores each, so you can imagine they produce a lot of sweat. it’s part of personal hygiene. Especially for those who live far away from the gym. Endeavor to make an antiperspirant top of your gym essentials

8. Be friendly

The gym is a place to meet friends and sometimes prospective employees and even suitors, you don’t know who is who, be polite and courteous to everyone around.

9. Be open to learning

More often than not, you’d see people argue with the trainer about some routines, understand that these trainers are professionals and they know the best program suited for you.

Be open and humble enough to follow their lead. You might know more than them but you’re here, so flow with the trend.

10. Put in your best,

It’ll be painful at the start but, you’re here already.

You didn’t gather the fat in a day so take away perfectionism, you might not start seeing results until after some weeks. This doesn’t mean that you’ve not or are not putting in the work.

Patience, consistency is all you need.

Give it all it takes
