It is often said that a healthy mind is a healthy body and likewise, a healthy body is a healthy mind.

Very often, you’ll discover that certain physical conditions are pointers to the presence of acute mental health conditions

So then, you might be wondering or asking yourself if; working out really affects mental health.

I have put together 5 major ways in which working out can affect your mental health.

1. Working out boosts your confidence

There’s something that being confident in your skin does to you, an unhealthy body makes you susceptible to low self esteem. When there are certain clothes you’d love to wear that you just admire from afar. Exercise is a scientifically proven mood booster and it decreases symptoms of both depression and anxiety.

Additionally, a moderate physical exercise throughout the week can go a long way in boosting and improving your self esteem and confidence.

2. Working out reduces the risks of certain conditions

The drill is, in order to take care of your mind, start by taking care of your body because you need your body and mind to function effectively. Studies have shown that when you exercise your body frequently, you age effectively and slowly because Obesity has been associated with a lot of certain illnesses and diseases

3. When you work out, your mind is active

Most of the time, there’s a feeling of mixed emotions you have after having undergone a stressful activity. Exercise can be a great way to ease stress and undue tension. Whenever you need an emotional boost, and need to cheer you up after a long day, a few physical activities can help. Physical activity helps your brain release chemicals that make you feel happier, more relaxed, and less stressed.

4. Exercise promotes better sleep

One of the major causes of sleeplessness has been identified to be stress and mental health disorders. Whenever you notice a cycle of sleeplessness, try to exercise. This is because regular physical activity can help you fall asleep faster , get better sleep and deepen your sleep.

5. Working out is fun and enjoyable

Exercise creates a sense of inclusion and makes you feel social. Working out allows you to relax, enjoy the outdoors, or simply participate in things that make you happy while meeting new people. Exercise and physical activity can be enjoyable. In a fun social context, physical activity can also help you connect with family and friends.
So, next time you feel stressed out, bored and anxious, enroll in a dance class, join a gym, attend an aerobics class, hike the trails, or join a soccer team.
